The Running Kilt was invented on March 3, 1997 after a particularly painful race resulting in severe inner-thigh chafing. After several years of 'home sewn' Running Kilts, they are now professionally sewn by a woman-owned sewing outfit in Northern California (Humboldt County), USA.
